Couture your Curves with Chrissie

Couture your Curves with Chrissie 300x199 Couture your Curves with ChrissieOne of the perks of being a model is meeting some amazing people. Yes it’s true, the fashion world isn’t just full of Devils that wear Prada or Willamena Slaters. A couple of weeks a go, I modelled in the Mad Hatter Fashion show and walked for Chrissie of Curve Couture. On my first fitting I was given a corset that to me looked perfect however, Chrissie’s understanding of how corsets should work allowed her to fit me with a new corset, one that showed of my body Continue reading

Lino prints by Cross Street Press

Polly Cross Street Press 3 261x300 Lino prints by Cross Street Press

I came across Polly Sadourian Linocuts while browsing on the internet and I didn’t really know what a linocut was. I’m learning so much about design techniques!

Basically lino printing or lino cutting involves transferring a design onto a lino block. The block is then hand carved and the areas that remain are inked and printed onto fabric or paper.

Polly’s lino prints are sold as images to be framed and greetings cards. They feature all kinds of Continue reading

Mouthy Mitt – Jennifer Westwood

Mouthy Mitts Cafetiere Cosy 150x150 Mouthy Mitt Jennifer WestwoodAs the sunshine blazes through my double glazing I’m thinking perhaps it’s not the best time to be writing about woolly gloves but the story of Mouthy Mitts is great and now’s certainly the time to stock up on coffee sleeves or ipod socks!

Like many knitters, Jennifer Westwood was taught at an early age by her Grandmother and has been hooked ever since. ‘As a teenager I was forever knitting backless jumpers and sleeveless polo-necks for myself’ she tells me. ‘I’ve just always done it – partly ‘cos I’m such a fidget and can’t sit and do nothing!’

The idea for Mouthy Mitts came from a Radio 4 programme that Jennifer didn’t Mouthy Mitts Coffee Cosy 150x150 Mouthy Mitt Jennifer Westwoodeven Continue reading

Flood The Valley

Flood The Valley Little Chav 150x150 Flood The ValleyAs we know, I usually like to write about quaint, kitsch products – anything featuring teacups, cakes, florals – I’m your girl! But I’ve come across Flood The Valley and it’s totally the other end of the scale – harsh and brutal! But I like it because it’s unique. It’s kind of iconic in a very British way and the Continue reading
